Blergh

That's really the only word for this...blergh. We are going to be here for the weekend and maybe even longer than that. There's just no getting around it. She's still running fever and they're not going to let us go until that stops. Her CRP that was tested today went down substantially which is good...it shows that there's less inflamation in the brain which would indicate no infection. We like that. But why the fever? I got on a Yahoo message board for hemispherectomies and read of at least five kids that ran unexplained fever for 1-2 months after surgery...surely we won't be here that long?! The girl from neurosurgery who gave us the CRP results said no, that wouldn't happen, but what is it going to take for us to be released?

Feeling very frustrated right now.

ETA: Just had lots of fun and laughs with our sweet girl. I managed to get a good picture of her smiling. What on Earth are we going to do with that hair? This picture doesn't even do it justice!

Sorry about that. Ask if you can have therapy there until they discharge you. Hope it's done soon.

Oh Lisa, I feel so bad. I hope it's all over with soon. I remember journaling helped me relieve some of my frustrations while we were "stuck" in the hospital. I love Julia's precious smile in this picture. I bet her smiling and giggling helps brighten your day despite what you are dealing with.Take care.

Pictures really do not do the hair justice. Pre-op I thought I would be able to do a combover or a creative ponytail...something. But no. There is no hiding it. They shave A LOT of hair. I don't know if you have ever seen Jon and Kate Plus 8. But Sophie totally has the Kate look going right now. When I part her hair to the side, she has a spiky patch of hair on top of her head towards the back. People must think I am a diehard fan ;)

What a beautfil smile on her beautiful self! Is it me, or is it amazing the swelling in her face is gone? WOW, the body is an amazing thing.

Five months on and Emma has major hair spiking on the right hand side. Its hilarious. Our babysitter has got really creative with pony tails and sometimes its not even noticable. Hair - least of our worries but with the behavior, the inability to talk at 2 1/2, the chewy around the neck and the compression vest, its nice if at least the hair can look normal...

Hope you get home soon.
